Over the years, there have been a surprising number of people who have run from St. Johns, NL to Vancouver, BC but until today, apparently it's never been done solo andunsupported.
So, I would like to thank Jackie Gouverneur and the Columbia Sportswear folks for allowing me to ' go wild ' in their store ( having crossed the Rockies, I would SERIOUSLY recommend the ' omni-heat ' thermal underwear ).
Thanks also to the Chariot Carrier folk for designing the most incredible piece of baby transport technology. Apart from a bit of aesthetic damage, it has carried a 30+kg load over 7200km in less than 5 months without a wobble.
And finally, Sue Ingram from Sunumbra Sunscreen. Canadian summer days last up to 16 hours and yet my skin still feels as soft as a babies bum-bum.
For what it is worth, you were all part of a not terribly important but still kind of cool piece of running history.
For my part, my end goal is Tofino, so I would ask all of you guys eagerly clutching your lacy, satin underwear, ready to be thrown in my direction in a fit of hysterics, to please not jinx the trip, and to rather hold onto them a bit longer. Perhaps you can run them through another wash-cycle in the interim.....which if you haven't yet worked out how to work the machine, ask your wives/girlfriends to show you. And as a last resort, your mothers.
