"The Vidamago Foundation" is a South African non-profit company aimed at inspiring alternative ways of experiencing life.
While celebrity brings with it many advantages, Vidamago is dedicated to helping "normal" people.
The first project ( trans-Argentina ) was dreamt-up, contemplated and commited-to in just under 5 minutes at the dinner table, less than 4 months prior to start date.
Without the generosity of family and friends, the project would never have taken off for a lack of funding. While the idea of the project appealed to most people, our lack of marketing pulling power ( celebrity status ) meant that funding from corporates was not forth coming.
In short, our lack of celebrity almost meant that a truly fantastic life-changing experience aimed at supporting a worthy cause, nearly didn't happen.
Our aim is to help dreamers achieve their goals, whether physical or cerebral, while simultaneously ensuring that these dreamers contribute to worthy causes.
In order to make this a reality, we have assembled some of the brightest and most innovative minds ever to have graced our Monday evening sushi nights, and turned them over to nurture your very souls.
In no particular order, Vidamago is :
The human guinea pig of the group, Dave is living proof that while a life teaching scuba in the Caribbean may be heaven, it does nothing for ones sense of style.
Largely accepted as a hopelessly romantic dreamer, Dave is steered, by his trusty co-workers, through the myriad mysteries that cross his path.
Laying down a strong argument in favour of the adage that some people never learn, Mark has rather graciously accepted the invite to join Vidamago.
Having studied engineering at the University of Pretoria, Mark is an I.T. entrepreneur with a soft spot for romantic dreamers.
With his brown cardigans and love of Volvo's, Gordon is the 'grandpa' of the group.
Educated in accounting, he soon found this particular lifestyle boring and set off to establish his own company....trading in wood. It is surprisingly more interesting than accounting, the reasons for which he will be happy to share over a cup of cocoa.
Amongst every bunch of roses is a thorn.
She makes up for it by being the second tallest director in the company.
A marketing honours graduate from U.C.T., Victoria has many years experience dealing with difficult male co-workers.
Hay, Hay, Hay. It's Jo!
Do not be fooled by her Oompa Loompa disguise because this is one switched-on auntie.
Whether hiking the Camino, crawling around the bush or arranging pension portfolios for the mega-wealthy, Jo will always be on call to lend a hand when Dave gets himself into a pickle.
